MIAMI GARDENS, FL โ€“ The “Fifth Grand Slam” is officially ready for its close-up. The Miami Open presented by Itaรบ has released its highly anticipated singles entry lists for the 2026 tournament, scheduled to run from March 15 to March 29.

This yearโ€™s roster is a definitive “whoโ€™s who” of tennis excellence, featuring 16 Major champions, seven former world No. 1s, and athletes representing 34 different nations. With 17 players already claiming titles in the 2026 season, the tournament promises one of the most competitive fields in recent history.

A Clash of Titans

The headlines are dominated by the return of four of the sportโ€™s biggest iconsโ€”all of whom have previously hoisted the trophy in Miami:

  • The ATP Frontrunners: Current World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz (2022 champion) and No. 2 Jannik Sinner (2024 champion) lead the men’s side.
  • The WTA Powerhouses: World No. 1 and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka returns to protect her crown, challenged by 2022 winner and current No. 2 Iga Swiatek.

History will also be a major theme this year. Last yearโ€™s breakout star, Jakub Mensik, returns as the second-youngest champion in tournament history (19) after his stunning upset over Novak Djokovic in 2025. Djokovic, now 38, returns as the elder statesman of the field, seeking to extend his record of six Miami titles.

The Youth Movement

While the veterans hold the rankings, a wave of teenage talent is ready to disrupt the status quo:

  • ATP: 19-year-old Brazilian sensation Joao Fonseca stands as the sole teenager in the men’s main draw.
  • WTA: The women’s field is brimming with Gen-Z talent, including 18-year-olds Mirra Andreeva, Iva Jovic, and Tereza Valentova, alongside 19-year-olds Victoria Mboko and Maya Joint.

Home Court Advantage

American tennis fans will have plenty to cheer for, with 27 Americans in the initial entry list. The charge is led by five Top 10 stars:

“The American contingent is exceptionally strong this year, anchored by WTA stars Coco Gauff (No. 4), Jessica Pegula (No. 5), and Amanda Anisimova (No. 6), and ATP standouts Taylor Fritz (No. 8) and Ben Shelton (No. 9).”
