Venue
The tournament will be held at the Huzhou International Tennis Center in Huzhou, China. This venue is notable for having the largest red clay tennis facility in Asia, featuring 14 red clay courts built to international standards, similar to those at the French Open. The center was officially opened in March 2025, and the Huzhou Open is one of its first major international professional events. The facility’s high-quality courts and extensive infrastructure are expected to provide an excellent setting for the tournament.
History
The 2025 Huzhou Open marks the inaugural edition of this professional tennis tournament. While this is the first WTA-level event in Huzhou, the city has a long history with tennis, with some of the earliest tennis courts in Zhejiang province dating back to the early 20th century. The new Huzhou International Tennis Center was built to support the city’s ambition to become a hub for professional tennis in China and to host a variety of international tournaments. The establishment of this WTA 125 event is a significant step in achieving that goal, providing a new opportunity for players to compete in the region.
