Wimbledon 2026 Launches ‘Where Beauty Meets The Battle’ Campaign
LONDON, UK — The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has officially launched its global promotional campaign for The Championships 2026, unveiling a striking, cinematic trailer titled “Where beauty meets the battle.”
The creative campaign marks the second instalment of Wimbledon’s overarching global brand platform, “There Is Only One Wimbledon,” which debuted last year. Created in partnership with lead creative agency VCCP, the campaign highlights the unique, contrasting identity of SW19: an arena where serene English heritage and aesthetic elegance collide with high-stakes, gladiatorial athletic intensity.
A Butterfly’s View of Centre Court
At the heart of the 2026 campaign is a 60-second hero film that creatively captures the tournament through the eyes of a Holly Blue butterfly. The film mirrors the tranquil beauty of “tennis in an English garden” before that peace is dynamically shattered by the explosive power, speed, and emotion of the world’s best players in full flight.
The creative concept was born from a legendary piece of Wimbledon history. During the 1986 tournament, former French tennis star Henri Leconte famously paused mid-match when a butterfly landed near him on the grass. Reflecting on the moment, Leconte recalled:
“I played very well and then something wonderful happened. I was shaping up to serve and this beautiful white butterfly landed at my feet. Usually, most people would stamp on it to get on with things, but I picked it up and it stayed on my racket. I walked it over to the crowd and it flew into the stands. The people went nuts!”
Former British No. 1 Annabel Croft, who provides the voiceover for the 2026 trailer, echoed this sentiment, describing the tournament’s unique atmosphere. “Wimbledon is truly one of a kind,” Croft said. “There is nothing quite like the contrast of the sport at its most intense, played out amid such extraordinary beauty.”
Celebrating a Milestone for Wheelchair Tennis
The 2026 trailer prominently features Great Britain’s own Alfie Hewett, the current World No. 2 and a 33-time Grand Slam champion. Hewett’s inclusion comes at a historic juncture for the tournament, as the 2026 Championships will mark the 50th anniversary of wheelchair tennis.
“Wimbledon is a very special place,” Hewett commented on his starring role in the film. “Within the amazing grounds is a desire to win like nowhere else. It’s wonderful to be part of the campaign ahead of this year’s Championships, particularly in this significant milestone year.”
The Finest Stage in Tennis
As sports fans gear up for a packed summer of international events, the AELTC aims to reinforce Wimbledon’s status as an unparalleled cultural and sporting icon.
Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing and Commercial Director at the AELTC, emphasized that the film represents the emotional gravity of playing on the historic grass:
“Our 2026 film tells that story beautifully to our fans all around the world. A legacy of tennis gladiators, battling for victory, in the ultimate arena of Centre Court and all its beauty. [Wimbledon is] revered around the world not only for the pinnacle of performance, alongside excellence and tradition, but also for the exhilarating emotion and intensity that can only be brought by the world’s best players in full flight.”
The integrated campaign will roll out across global digital, broadcast, and outdoor media networks starting today.
The 139th staging of The Championships, Wimbledon, will take place over 14 consecutive days from Monday, 29 June to Sunday, 12 July 2026.
