In 2024, the event underwent a significant transformation, relocating from the capital city of Astana to Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest metropolis and cultural hub, with a population exceeding 2 million.
Rebranded as the Almaty Open, the tournament now finds its home at the Almaty Arena, a modern indoor hard-court venue capable of accommodating thousands of spectators. With its new identity and location, the Almaty Open continues to attract top-tier talent from around the globe, offering valuable ATP points and serving as a key stop in the autumn indoor swing, while showcasing the best of Kazakh hospitality and sporting excellence.

The Almaty Open is a professional men’s tennis tournament held in Kazakhstan and part of the ATP Tour 250 series.
The event brings international players to Almaty for a week of indoor hard-court tennis, offering the opportunity to earn ranking points and compete for an ATP Tour title.
The Kazakhstan Tennis Federation promotes the event as the only ATP 250 tournament in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), highlighting its importance to professional tennis in the region.
History: From Astana to Almaty
The tournament began in 2020 as the Astana Open in Kazakhstan’s capital. It was initially introduced during the ATP calendar changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
After its first editions in 2020 and 2021, the tournament became a permanent member of the ATP Tour calendar in 2022.
That year, the event was upgraded to ATP 500 status, with Novak Djokovic winning the singles championship against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The tournament returned to ATP 250 status in 2023, when Adrian Mannarino captured the title in Astana.
In 2024, the tournament moved to Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, and was renamed the Almaty Open. Karen Khachanov won the first edition at the new location.
Former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev claimed the 2025 singles title, defeating Corentin Moutet in a three-set final.

The Almaty Open takes place at Almaty Arena, a modern multipurpose indoor sports and entertainment complex in Kazakhstan’s largest city.
