Musetti, Rublev, and Bublik Headline Star-Studded Field for 2026 ATP Hong Kong Open
HONG KONG – The 2026 ATP Tour season is set to launch with fireworks at Victoria Park, as tournament organizers confirmed a powerhouse entry list for the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open on Thursday.
Leading the charge for the ATP 250 event, scheduled for January 5–11, 2026, is Italian World No. 8 Lorenzo Musetti. Fresh off a career-best 2025 season that saw him reach the Roland Garros semifinals and make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Musetti enters as the projected top seed and a heavy favorite.
He will be joined by a roster of heavy hitters, including World No. 11 Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan and former champion Andrey Rublev (World No. 16), who lifted the trophy here in 2024.
A Battle of Champions and Rising Stars
The draw features a compelling mix of established veterans and explosive young talent. Defending champion Alexandre Müller of France will return to protect his 2025 title. Müller’s gritty run last year, where he defeated Kei Nishikori in the final, remains a highlight of recent tournament history.
“The field for the 30th edition of the Hong Kong Open is exceptionally deep,” said a tournament spokesperson. “To have top-10 talent like Musetti alongside past champions like Rublev and Müller guarantees high-quality tennis from the first round.”
Also confirmed for the main draw are:
- Karen Khachanov (World No. 18)
- Arthur Fils (France, World No. 40)
- Lorenzo Sonego (Italy, World No. 39)
- Gabriel Diallo (Canada, World No. 41)
Local Heroes and Chinese Talent
The tournament continues to be a crucial platform for Asian tennis. Local fans will have plenty to cheer for with Hong Kong’s own Coleman Wong confirmed for the main draw. Joining him are Chinese standouts Jerry Shang (Shang Juncheng) and Yibing Wu, ensuring strong regional representation.
Shang, who reached the semifinals in Hong Kong in 2025 before retiring against Nishikori, will be looking to go one step further this year.
