2026 National Bank Open Seeds Revealed: Sabalenka, Zverev Lead
The summer tennis season in North America is getting hotter, and Canadian fans have plenty of big news to celebrate. Tennis Canada has officially released the list of seeded players for the 2026 National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO).
This major tournament takes place across two iconic Canadian cities from Saturday, August 1 to Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The women of the WTA Tour will play at the Sobeys Stadium in Toronto, while the men of the ATP Tour head to IGA Stadium in Montreal.
With 13 exciting days of competition on the schedule, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka leads the field in Toronto, and 2026 Roland-Garros winner Alexander Zverev headlines the action in Montreal.
Action in Toronto: Sabalenka and Rybakina Lead a Stacked WTA Field
For the very first time in her career, four-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka enters the National Bank Open as the top seed in Toronto. Sabalenka, who holds two Australian Open and two US Open titles, is looking to build on her career-best semi-final run in Canada from 2021.
Right behind her is Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, seeded No. 2. Rybakina is having a stellar year after capturing her second Grand Slam crown at the Australian Open earlier this season. Two-time NBO champion Jessica Pegula of the United States comes in as the No. 3 seed.
Canadian fans will also have plenty of home favorites to cheer for in Toronto:
- Leylah Annie Fernandez leads the seeded Canadians as the No. 34 seed.
- Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 NBO champion, has received a main-draw wildcard alongside fellow Canadians Kayla Cross, Katherine Sebov, Cadence Brace, Rebecca Marino, Ariana Arseneault, and Carol Zhao.
- Tennis legend Venus Williams has also been awarded a main-draw wildcard, giving local fans a special chance to watch one of the greatest players in tennis history.

Heat in Montreal: Zverev and Home Favorite Auger-Aliassime Top the ATP Draw
Over in Montreal, the men’s singles draw features a massive milestone for Canadian tennis. World No. 4 Félix Auger-Aliassime enters his home tournament as the No. 2 seed. He becomes the first Canadian player since Bianca Andreescu in 2021 to earn a top-two seed at the National Bank Open. Auger-Aliassime is riding high after back-to-back quarterfinal finishes at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon.
Leading the men’s field as the top seed is Germany’s Alexander Zverev. The 2017 NBO champion is having the season of his life, having claimed his maiden Grand Slam victory at Roland-Garros before making a run to the Wimbledon final. Australia’s Alex de Minaur, the runner-up in Montreal in 2023, comes in as the No. 3 seed.
Main-draw wildcards in Montreal have been granted to:
- Gabriel Diallo (Canada)
- Gael Monfils (France)
- Liam Draxl (Canada), who earned his spot by winning the Road to the NBO competition.
Two additional wildcard spots for the men’s tournament will be announced leading up to the main event.

Tournament Format, Draw Ceremonies, and Family Weekends
The 2026 National Bank Open marks the second year of the expanded 12-day main-draw format (running across 13 calendar days total):
- One-day Qualifying Round: Saturday, August 1.
- Main-Draw Play Begins: Sunday, August 2.
- First-Round Byes: The top 32 seeded players in both draws receive an automatic bye into the second round.
- Rest Days: Under the expanded format, players get designated rest days between matches as the top and bottom halves of the draw alternate daily until the semi-finals.
