Who Is Alexandra Eala?
Alexandra “Alex” Eala was born on May 23, 2005, in Quezon City, Philippines. She started playing tennis at just four years old and grew up in a sporting family. Her mother, Rizza, was a competitive swimmer who represented the Philippines at the 1985 Southeast Asian Games, while her brother also pursued tennis.
Eala showed her potential from an early age. At 11, she competed at the WTA Future Stars event in Singapore and received the Li Na Inspiration Award during her first appearance in 2016. She returned to the event in 2017.
Her development later took her to Mallorca, Spain, where she trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy. The experience helped shape the powerful left-handed game that has carried her from junior Grand Slam success to the upper levels of professional tennis.
