2025 US Open

The 2025 US Open marks the 145th edition of the tournament and the final Grand Slam event of the year. This prestigious tennis championship will take place on the outdoor hard courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.

Tournament Details

As the fourth and final Grand Slam of 2025, the US Open is a cornerstone event for both the ATP Tour and WTA Tour. The tournament will be played on 17 courts with a Laykold surface, including the three main showcourts: Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, and Grandstand. This will be the final tournament with Stacey Allaster as director.

Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka will return to defend their titles in the men’s and women’s singles competitions, respectively.

Key Changes and New Features

This year’s US Open introduces several notable changes to the tournament format:

• Expanded Schedule: The main draw will now span 15 days, beginning on Sunday, August 24, and concluding on Sunday, September 7. This marks the first time the tournament has a weekend start in the Open Era.
• Return of Wheelchair Events: After a one-year hiatus due to a scheduling conflict with the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the wheelchair professional events will make their return.
• New Mixed Doubles Format: The mixed doubles competition will be held during US Open–Fan Week, on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20. This new format will feature 16 teams vying for a $1 million winner’s prize. The matches will consist of best-of-three-set matches with short sets to four games, no-ad scoring, and a 10-point match tiebreak in place of a third set. The final will be a best-of-three-set match to six games.
