Tennis fans around the world have a major reason to celebrate this summer. On Monday, July 27, 2026, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) officially revealed the initial list of player entries for the 2026 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship presented by Vital Proteins®.

This marks the second year of the newly elevated and reimagined mixed doubles tournament, following a record-breaking 2025 debut that won the Sports Business Journal’s prestigious “Sports Breakthrough of the Year” award. The 2026 edition promises to be bigger, bolder, and more exciting than ever before. With world-famous singles stars teaming up, an added qualifying event, global television coverage, and primetime broadcasts on ESPN, Flushing Meadows is set to ignite in late August.

The blockbuster competition will run over three action-packed days, from Monday, August 24, to Wednesday, August 26, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.

The initial entry list reads like a dream lineup for any tennis enthusiast, featuring world No. 1s, Grand Slam champions, and fan favorites. Because initial team entries are organized by combined singles ranking, the initial roster brings together some of the biggest icons in modern sports:

The 2025 tournament brought over 78,000 fans onto the US Open grounds, sold out Arthur Ashe Stadium on both days of play, led to more than 2 million mobile app and website visits, and set a single-day record of 12.8 million views on the official US Open YouTube channel.

For the 2026 event, Vital Proteins will host wellness experiences, product sampling, interactive setups, and surprise-and-delight moments across the tournament grounds.

Tournament Format, Rules, and Daily Schedule

The tournament offers an accessible schedule for fans attending Fan Week, as well as primetime viewing on ESPN.

How Entries and Draws Work

  1. Direct Acceptance: The entry window stays open until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, August 17. At that point, the top six teams with the best combined singles rankings automatically secure main draw spots.
  2. Wild Cards: Eight teams will be awarded main draw entry via wild card selections.
  3. Qualifying Spot: Two remaining main draw spots will be determined through a brand-new eight-team Qualifying draw. The qualifying draw consists of six direct entries and two wild cards.

Competition Schedule

  • Monday, August 24 – Qualifying Draw:
    • Eight teams battle for two main draw spots.
    • Matches begin at 11:00 a.m. at Grandstand Stadium.
    • Free to attend for fans with a Fan Access Pass.
  • Tuesday, August 25 – First Round & Quarterfinals:
    • Free morning matches start at 10:00 a.m. at Louis Armstrong Stadium (with Fan Access Pass).
    • Ticketed matches start at 11:00 a.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium (tickets start at $30).
  • Wednesday, August 26 – Semifinals & Championship Final:
    • Primetime action starts at 7:00 p.m. inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.
    • Tickets start at $45.

Scoring System

To keep matches fast, intense, and television-friendly, the tournament uses shortened scoring formats:

  • Qualifying through Semifinals: Best-of-three sets; sets played to four games with no-ad scoring (a tiebreak is played at 4–4). If teams split the first two sets, a 10-point match tiebreak decides the winner instead of a third set.
  • The Final Match: Best-of-three full sets played to six games with no-ad scoring (a tiebreak is played at 6–6). A 10-point match tiebreak is played if sets are split.
