The Laver Cup is an annual men’s team tennis competition that has quickly become one of the most anticipated events on the global tennis calendar. Conceived by tennis legend Roger Federer and his longtime business partner Tony Godsick, the tournament made its debut in 2017 and has grown into what many describe as tennis’s answer to golf’s Ryder Cup.

Team Europe Reclaims the Laver Cup
Team Europe won the 2026 Laver Cup at The O2 in London, defeating Team World 13–5. Alexander Zverev secured the decisive three points on Sunday with a 7–6(3), 6–3 victory over Learner Tien.

The 2027 Laver Cup will take place from September 24–26 at Intuit Dome. Detailed session times and player matchups have not yet been released.

How the Laver Cup Works
The Laver Cup combines singles and doubles matches with a scoring system that gives every day more value than the one before it.
Two Teams
Six players represent Europe and six represent the rest of the world, with captains managing their daily lineups.
12 Matches
The full competition can feature nine singles matches and three doubles matches across the three days.
Points Increase
Each win is worth one point on Friday, two points on Saturday and three points on Sunday.
Race to 13
The first team to collect 13 points wins the Laver Cup and lifts the trophy.
1 → 2 → 3
The increasing value of each match means the competition can remain open deep into the final day.
Singles and doubles are played as best-of-three-set matches.
If the match reaches one set all, a 10-point match tiebreak replaces a full third set.
If the teams are tied 12–12 after all scheduled matches, an overtime doubles match determines the champion.
Europe 6 · World 3
Nine editions have now been completed since the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague in 2017. Team Europe reclaimed the trophy in London in 2026 and will arrive in Los Angeles as defending champions.
Europe Reclaims the Cup in London
Team Europe started strongly at The O2, taking a 3–1 lead after Friday before Team World fought back during a dramatic Saturday. Europe still entered the final day ahead 7–5.
Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik defeated Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur 7–5, 6–3 in Sunday’s opening doubles match to extend Europe’s lead to 10–5. Alexander Zverev then defeated Learner Tien 7–6(3), 6–3 to seal a 13–5 victory and Europe’s sixth Laver Cup title.
Los Angeles 2027
The next Laver Cup will be staged at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, from September 24–26, 2027. It will mark the tournament’s 10th edition and its first visit to the Los Angeles area.
