2027 Wimbledon Championships
June 28, 2027 – July 11, 2027 BST
Since its first Championships in 1877, Wimbledon has evolved from a modest garden‑party event into a Grand Slam tournament followed by millions around the globe. As the only major still contested on grass, it remains deeply rooted in tradition—upholding a strict all‑white dress code, the beloved ritual of strawberries and cream, and a long history of royal patronage.
The women’s singles event was added in 1884, and over the decades, legends of the sport have graced the outdoor grass courts—first on Worple Road and, since 1922, at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road. In 2013, Andy Murray ended a 77‑year wait for a British men’s champion, becoming the first since Fred Perry in 1936.
Today, 128 singles players enter the third Grand Slam of the year with their sights set on the prestigious Venus Rosewater Dish, while 64 doubles teams compete for The Duchess of Kent Challenge Cup—all part of tennis’s oldest and most storied championship.
