Brandon Nakashima Ends Rafael Jodar’s Magical Run

In the opening semifinal, 28th seed Brandon Nakashima produced a tactical masterclass to defeat 19-year-old Spanish sensation Rafael Jodar [20] 7-6(3), 6-4 in two hours and two minutes.

Nakashima served flawlessly, winning 81% of his first-serve points and rushing the net to disrupt Jodar’s rhythm. Swiatek raced to a 5-1 lead in the opening set before securing it 6-3. However, Svitolina turned up the aggression in the second, hitting heavy baseline winners to claim it 6-1. In a tight decider, Swiatek adjusted her depth and weight of shot, breaking Svitolina in back-to-back service games from 2-3 down to reel off four straight games and seal the victory.

Elena Rybakina Stages Another Classic Comeback Against Gauff

World No. 2 Elena Rybakina [2] continued her trademark resilience in Toronto, coming back from a set down to eliminate 4th seed Coco Gauff 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in two hours and seven minutes.

After dropping a tight opening set on a late break at 5-6, Rybakina recalibrated her serve and baseline power. The Kazakhstani star broke Gauff twice in the second set to level the match, then repeated the feat in the decider, winning 12 of the final 14 points on serve to reach her second consecutive National Bank Open final.
