Laver Cup 2026: Team World Finalizes Strongest-Ever Lineup

Laver Cup 2026 Team World

LONDON — Team World Captain Andre Agassi has officially completed his six-man roster for the upcoming Laver Cup London 2026, locking in what will be the team’s strongest lineup by ranking in tournament history.

Rising star Learner Tien (World No. 18) and experienced American Tommy Paul (World No. 24) are the final two players chosen to join the defending champions. They complete a powerhouse squad that already includes Ben Shelton (World No. 5), Alex de Minaur (World No. 6), Taylor Fritz (World No. 7), and Alexander Bublik (World No. 11).

The highly anticipated team tournament returns to the iconic O2 Arena in London from September 25 to September 27, 2026. With their roster completely finalized, Team World is fully prepared to defend their crown and chase a fourth victory in five years.

Tommy Paul Returns to the Bench

Tommy Paul is making a welcome return for his third active Laver Cup campaign. The American has a fantastic history with the event, having served as an alternate during Team World’s historic first victory in London in 2022, before playing a key role on court during their dominant win in Vancouver in 2023.

Though he was selected to play in San Francisco in 2025, an unfortunate injury forced him to withdraw. Since getting healthy, Paul has been one of the most consistent players on the ATP Tour across all surfaces. He won the title in Houston this season and reached the finals in Delray Beach, Hamburg, and Queen’s Club in London.

“I am so pumped for the opportunity to compete for Team World in London,” Paul said. “I was disappointed to miss out on playing under Andre and Pat Rafter in San Francisco, so I’m thrilled to be back. I’ve experienced what makes the Laver Cup so special and there’s nothing quite like sharing the bench with these guys.”

Learner Tien Ready for a Dream Debut

While Paul brings veteran experience, 20-year-old Californian Learner Tien brings the spark of youth. Tien is enjoying a rapid, spectacular rise up the world rankings into the top 20. Earlier this year, he reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, becoming the youngest man to reach the final eight in Melbourne since 2015.

Tien is also the reigning Next Gen ATP Finals champion. He won his very first ATP title in Metz last year and added a second trophy to his collection in Geneva this past May. For the young American, playing in the Laver Cup is a true full-circle moment.

“It’s a huge honor to be selected by Andre and it’s very special for me to represent Team World,” Tien shared. “Tennis is so often an individual sport so being a part of a team is something I never take for granted. I’ve been watching Laver Cup since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to experience the incredible atmosphere of the event as a player.”

Captain Agassi Welcomes Depth and Balance

Captain Andre Agassi is thrilled with how his team has come together, noting that the final two additions give Team World a perfect mix of experience and fresh energy.

“Tommy and Learner are fantastic additions to our team,” said Agassi. “Tommy brings valuable Laver Cup experience and understands what it takes to compete and win in this environment, while Learner has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in the game. Together they complete a very strong and well-balanced team, and I’m excited to see what this group can achieve in London.”

While Team World’s roster is fully set, Team Europe Captain Yannick Noah still has two remaining spots to fill. So far, Team Europe has locked in Carlos Alcaraz (World No. 2), Alexander Zverev (World No. 3), Flavio Cobolli (World No. 10), and Jakub Mensik (World No. 17).

A Historic Showdown Awaits at The O2

The 2026 edition marks an emotional return to London’s O2 Arena. This venue is home to one of the most famous moments in tennis history: Roger Federer’s final professional match in 2022, where he played doubles alongside Rafael Nadal while Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray cheered them on.

With Team World winning three of the last four tournament titles, the rivalry between Europe and the rest of the world is at an all-time high. Fans heading to London can expect incredible matchups, unique doubles pairings, and the amazing sight of fierce rivals playing for the exact same team on the tournament’s signature black court.
